In many countries, it has been recognized that the construction industry will not change unless progressive construction clients with large construction projects, demand and drive the desired changes. This has led to high-powered Government supported and client-led initiatives to improve the industry in these countries.
The objective of our first Building Construction Clients Regional Roundtable was to identify ‘Critical issues in the Indian Building Construction Industry’, i.e. to kick-off on the first Ci3 India Objective. Needless to say, some pointers to potentially beneficial approaches towards meeting the other Objectives, also emerged during the deliberations.
The Director of IIT Madras, Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi officially launched Ci3 India, at this Roundtable on 14 October 2015. The participants at this roundtable were top management representatives from major building construction client organizations that have large construction Project portfolios.
This roundtable was anchored by Prof. Mohan Kumaraswamy (T N Subba Rao Brigade Group Adjunct Chair Professor, IIT Madras) and Mr. S Mahalingam (Former CFO and Executive Director of TCS), along with active support and inputs from Prof. K.N. Satyanarayana and Prof. Koshy Varghese of IIT Madras.
